EXPLOSIONS, raids, arrests, shootouts and stand-offs are all in a day's work for actors in Melbourne's City Homicide.
The fast-paced TV show, which returns to our screens tomorrow night, is transforming city streets into action-packed sets well suited to the gritty police drama.
The Sunday Herald Sun was given a sneak peek into the show's third season and exclusive access to cast and crew during several weeks of filming around Melbourne.
High-profile actors, eager extras and dedicated crew took to the streets around the western suburbs to put engaging scripts into action.
Realistic police chases, grisly murders, arrests, shootings and good old-fashioned detective work made for gripping behind-the-scenes viewing.
Residents at Altona and Newport were thrilled to catch a glimpse of the show's stars chasing the "bad guys".
There was time for stars to have fun, including Aaron Pedersen who showed off his footy skills.
The new series will see Aussie actors Nadia Townsend and John Adam join the cast.
Townsend debuts in tomorrow night's two-hour premiere opposite heart-throb Det Simon Joyner, played by Daniel MacPherson. Adam will join later.
AFI-nominated Damien Richardson, who plays Det Matt Ryan, says audiences will not be disappointed by the new series.
"The third series takes the show to another level," he says. "The show has come a long way and now has more punch and pace than before."
City Homicide will screen on Channel 7 tomorrow night at 8.30 with a special two-part episode.
